One of the victims in this time of economic worries is the philosophy of “going green”. When our concerns are that of financial security, we tend to place less importance on a sustainable environment. And there lays the problem in which important natural resources, energy savings, and pollutant reductions are being lost each and every day, causing unnecessary damage to our planet. We do not need to immerse ourselves in a completely 100% green lifestyle, but by each one of us making just a single change, the collective results would be immense and the change to an individuals lifestyle would be minimal. With one individual change, we can leave a sustainable planet to our children and our grandchildren. And personally, I think they are worth it….Do you?

Did you know…

For every ton of paper that is recycled, the following is saved: 7,000 gallons of water; 380 gallons of oil; and enough electricity to power an average house for six months.

You can run a TV for six hours on the amount of electricity that is saved by recycling one aluminum can.

By recycling just one glass bottle, you save enough electricity to power a 100-watt bulb for four hours.

Restaurants account for 33% of all U.S. Retail electricity used.

The average operation uses 300,000 gallons of water a year.

Approximately 100 billion pounds of food is wasted each year; food scraps alone make up almost 12% of all the municipal solid waste generated in the country.

So…….Why Go Green?

The number one answer why we should “go green” is:

It’s the right thing to do.

Our planet has a finite amount of natural resources and many of them are being rapidly consumed. The food service industry is a major user of these resources.

Drinking for world peace was never this much fun.
