One of the preponderant memories that I will leave with, is the quiet and restful sleep I encountered being home. I did this in the same room that I spent my childhood, hearing the same distant night sounds and waking to the sprinkling of rain on leaves outside my window and the multiple songs of the birds echoing in the early morning light. A fresh cup of coffee, the coolness of rain washed air and a quiet solitude transformed time and space. I watched the ghosts of childhood play out at every turn. I heard the voices of those who have already left and felt their presence as I slowly walked the homestead….
“Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain”

And when the day arrives I’ll become the sky and I’ll become the sea and the sea will come to kiss me for I am going home. Nothing can stop me now.
Trent Reznor

“I have never found a companion that was so companionable as solitude.”
― Henry David Thoreau, Walden, or Life in the Woods

“A large drop of sun lingered on the horizon and then dripped over and was gone, and the sky was brilliant over the spot where it had gone, and a torn cloud, like a bloody rag, hung over the spot of its going. And dusk crept over the sky from the eastern horizon, and darkness crept over the land from the east.”
― John Steinbeck, The Grapes of Wrath

It sounds like you’re enjoying your trip “home.” I too sleep in my childhood bedroom when I go home. And the memories always flow over me.
Very much so…Have until the 15th but am wondering if I can make it a little longer….
I would make it a little longer–IF I were you. You’re very lucky to have such a place to return to. Having none, I am very envious.
Enjoy all you can.
I will…times are approaching where major changes will dictate a return so I am soaking it in…..
I leave a response whenever I like a post on a site or if I have something to contribute to the discussion. Usually it is triggered by the fire communicated in the article I looked at. And after this post Rain and Color and Ghosts… Ryeder's Weblog. I was actually excited enough to post a thought
I do have some questions for you if you do not mind. Is it only me or do some of these comments come across like left by brain dead people?
And, if you are posting on other places, I’d like to keep up with anything new you have to post. Would you make a list every one of your community pages like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?
Thank you for your kind words, Estefana. I will work on the list…
