Trying to boost visits to my website, I took the advice from those so-called gurus who explain to wannabe amateur web masters, how to promote our hard work. In doing so, I post tidbits on the ever so popular Twitter, and other social cyber watering holes . The one thing I keep noticing is the popular topics reviews some of these sites provide, and what people are “talking.” Most of the topics seem to rotate about what others are doing, not what the writer is doing. Are we all trying to live through the eyes of others? Don’t we have our own lives and experiences that may, through our own contributions, be deemed entertaining or helpful to others? My personal take is that I have very little interest in the fantasy worlds of no talent, over paid celebrities, sports figures, self-serving politicians, or the rich and famous, where it really doesn’t take much anymore to be thrown into the spotlight of instant gratification. It is sad when we feel that our own lives are so mundane and shallow that we need to live vicariously in others, when in fact, we all have special qualities, unique experiences, and personal wisdom that when shared with others, overshadows all else.
That is so true. Everybody is talking about everybody elses life ( celebrities, sports figures, etc.). I am not interested in them anyway. I think that we all have something to contribute and our lifes are special in there own way, even though we may not be rich or famous.
