In the many years I have utilized a typewriter, and keyboard, I have never made it past the hunt and peck system of constructing sentences, and I really admire those who can gaze at the screen while typing 120 words per minute. My validation of not having this keyboarding skill is that my brain’s ability to provide written content at that speed is modest. I also use the adage of “you can’t teach a dog new tricks.” and if I am really searching for an excuse, I blame it on being mildly dyslexic. As one can detect from my haphazard timing of my entries, there are times that minuscule concepts allow me to post a couple times per day, while on other days, the pool of ramblings, stories, and lies is barren.
The most difficult part of writing is the conceptual art of finding ideas that are interesting enough that people will actually read what one has written. For me, writer’s block is my constant companion, a shadow that lingers just in back of me, ready to reach out and touch me with uncertainty, and artistic reservation. But like anything worth while, practice makes perfect, or so they say, and if one wants to succeed at a goal, then one must take it one step at a time, and follow their path to conclusion.
This is my small contribution to the world of writing. I hope it helps.
The only way for me to fight writer’s block is to write. I try to write articles more when I can’t get into fiction, and when I can’t write articles, I step into fiction….since I write articles for a living, this is often tricky.
I hope you get hold of your writing muse one day, and keep her with you, a constant companion.
